ACHIEVE NJBased on the timeline established in the TEACHNJ law, AchieveNJ is being implemented statewide in the 2013–14 school year. The system builds on the findings of the 2010–11 Educator Effectiveness Task Force, as well as local innovation and lessons learned from the pilot programs underway since 2011. In response to New Jersey educators, the Department expanded the pilots in SY12–13 to a total of 30 districts and incorporated principal evaluations. Feedback from the pilots and the state Evaluation Pilot Advisory Committee helped shape the draft regulations that the Department proposed on March 6, 2013.
New Jersey is currently engaged in a process to reform the teacher and principal evaluation system. This initiative is known as Excellent Educators for New Jersey or EE4NJ. During the 2011-2012 school year, eleven school districts and nineteen additional schools participated in the first year of the pilot program. During 2012-2013 school year, ten districts are participating in the second year of the teacher evaluation pilot program and fourteen districts are participating in the first year of the principal evaluation pilot program. All other districts in New Jersey, including Park Ridge Schools, are involved in adopting a teacher evaluation model for implementation in the 2013-14 school year, piloting and building capacity for that model. All teachers have to be trained on the new model by June 30, 2013. Additional State regulations are due for adoption by NJDOE in March 2013.
We have formed a district EE4NJ committee and a District Evaluation Advisory Committee (DEAC).
